Statistical Consulting
There are many issues that arise in a statistical practice. Among them are:
model specification
uncertainties in the data
optimal decision procedures
whether to use Bayesian procedures
correct distribution assumptions
the validity of ad hoc and fitting procedures.
Among the medical and pharmaceutical issues are:
usefulness of markers
valid coding outcome definitions
adequate classification procedures
choice of definition outcomes
ambiguities in decision choices
impact of utility functions and extent of disease on decisions
cost benefit of treatment vs. toxicity .
Environmental issues include:
concerns with consequences of toxicities
acceptable risk exposure definitions
choice of population
probability risk models .
My goal on this blog is is two fold.
1.To announce a continuing statistical consulting practice based on thirty years experience in academia and industry, that specializes in medical and pharmaceutical studies, epidemiological studies, clinical trials and environmental epidemiological and risk assessment studies.
2. To constantly raise statistical conceptual issues and methodological concerns encountered in my statistical practice.
I intend to continue to provide consulting services that lead to clear conclusions for the client.
Periodically,I will explore in this blog, some of these issues and hope for a useful and constructive dialog with members of the community and do look forward to the responses to my thoughts on these various topics.
